While antidepressants work well for many people (and I am not suggesting that people not take them), there is another key to depression that most overlook: gut health.
Antidepressants work by increasing neurotransmitters (like serotonin and noradrenaline). Gut bacteria also produce a variety of neurotransmitters that can trigger positive feelings.
While taking antidepressants, it may be helpful to focus on some of the side effects of antidepressants (slow motility issues, etc.) as well as work on making sure you are managing gut bacteria balances. The combination of both efforts may prove to be very effective.
