Probiotics are NOT all the same. And probiotics may not be the best place to start for many of you.
Don't get me wrong, we ❤️ probiotics. Like really love them. BUT there's a time and a place.
Slow motility issues? (reflux, heartburn, slow gastric emptying, constipation, SIBO, etc.)
❌Probiotics aren't the place to start.
Rapidly motility issues?
Probiotics MAY not be the place to start.
How is Ultimate Probiotic different than ________'s probiotic?
To start off, the type of strains in Ultimate Probiotic are completely different than reseeding probiotic supplements. Comparing reseeding probiotics to gut management probiotics is like comparing
apples and oranges. It's an unfair comparison.
The theory behind traditional reseeding probiotics is that after your gut has been obliterated from antibiotics, major stress, other medications, viruses, or pathogens the solution is to load the gut up again with select probiotics, right? Replace what you have lost OR add in more good stuff to offset the bad stuff.
What if they are not only not doing much good for you but are actually "...hampering the very recovery processes they are commonly thought to improve." (Is it worth taking probiotics after antibiotics?-BBC)
Finally, the key to gut health is microbial diversity. Tens of billions of CFUs of reseeding probiotics do not necessarily increase microbial diversity. However, managerial probiotic strains are shown to increase microbial diversity of beneficial bacteria
Silver Fern™ Brand used an industry leading microbiologist to formulate Ultimate Probiotic for a reason. For people with big gut issues, we don't even suggest Ultimate Probiotic until further down the line in our protocols.
I know many of you are super anxious to get on probiotics because that is the narrative we have all been taught. But not all probiotics are the same. Probiotics aren't the ideal place to start with motility or gut clean up issues.
Getting to the point where you are taking the right probiotic for long-term gut health management is the goal (and later on, certain reseeding probiotics aren't bad either).
✅If you have bad gut issues, then start the gut health process by NOT taking probiotics. but focusing on resolving your gut issues first.
✅If you are working to build/improve gut health then please be mindful that not all probiotics are the same and start with the right ones.
In fact, most probiotics really don't do much for people. If you aren't going to get a good probiotic, save your money! A $24 waste of money is a lot more expensive than a $50 bottle of something that works.
