B. Subtilis helps prevent recurrent UTIs and other infections - gut health, antimicrobial

Here’s the secret to addressing recurring UTIs: B. subtilis.
.
The fact is that it is really convenient and inexpensive to get an antibiotic for UTIs. Here’s the problem. The infections keep coming back.
.
Studies show B. subtilis probiotic administration along with antibiotics was significantly more effective than antibiotics alone in reducing the recurrence of UTIs. B. subtilis reduces the pH of urine, which can inhibit unwanted bacteria species. Further, B. subtilis inhibits the growth of unwanted species (like E. coli). E. coli accounts for 85% of UTIs.
.
Are there other reasons to use B. subtilis? Absolutely!
Bacillus subtilis has been extensively studied on a genetic and functional level for its ability to produce targeted antibiotics and modulate the immune system. Interestingly, B. subtilis can produce nearly 12 strong antibiotics that are potent fighters of opportunistic and harmful bacteria. This allows for effective reconditioning of the gut microbiome without the decimating effects of broad-spectrum antibiotics. Additionally, B. subtilis can improve the body’s natural defenses by producing antimicrobial compounds, cytokines, and immunoglobulins.
.
A recent study examined the impact of B. subtilis supplementation on the resistance of common infectious diseases in 44 elderly adults. After 4 months of intermittent supplementation, results indicated that B. subtilis reduced the risk of infectious illness by 31% and significantly increased salivary and serum IgA, effectively activating the immune system. In addition, animal trials have shown that B. subtilis supplementation increases the production of IgG, IgA, and β-defensin, an antimicrobial peptide that helps defend against pathogenic microbes.
