Introduction
Bergavit™ is a clinically studied bergamot (Citrus bergamia) extract derived from Calabrian bergamot juice in Italy and standardized to deliver 150 mg of flavonoids per day. It contains naturally occurring citrus flavonoids such as naringin, neohesperidin, and neoeriocitrin, compounds that have been studied for their role in supporting healthy lipid metabolism. In human clinical research, bergamot flavonoid extracts have been associated with improvements in markers related to cholesterol metabolism, including total cholesterol, LDL cholesterol, triglycerides, and HDL levels. Randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled studies have also observed improvements in markers related to oxidative balance, such as oxidized LDL and paraoxonase activity. Longer-term research has explored effects on carotid intima-media thickness, a measure used in cardiovascular research to assess arterial structure. Together, these findings highlight bergamot flavonoids as a promising nutritional approach for supporting cardiovascular and metabolic health.*
These are the studies for Bergavit™. Below, we provided a summary of each key data for each study, along with a link to the complete clinical research.

The Effect of Bergamot Polyphenolic Fraction in Patients with Non-Alcoholic Liver Steato-Hepatitis and Metabolic Syndrome
6-Month Human Clinical Study.
A 6-month human clinical study evaluated the effects of bergamot polyphenol supplementation in 77 adults with features associated with metabolic syndrome. Participants consumed 650 mg per day of bergamot extract (providing approximately 130 mg of bergamot polyphenols). Over the study period, researchers observed improvements in several cardiometabolic markers compared to baseline, including markers related to cholesterol metabolism and glucose regulation.
Study Design Highlights
- Participants: 77 adults with features associated with metabolic syndrome
- Dose: 650 mg/day bergamot extract (providing approximately 130 mg bergamot polyphenols)
- Duration: 6 months
Key Findings (What the Study Showed)
1. Cholesterol and Lipid Markers
- Total Cholesterol: ↓ 21.8%
- LDL Cholesterol: ↓ 23.0%
- HDL Cholesterol: ↑ 11.9%
- Triglycerides: ↓ 38.6%
2. Glucose Marker
- Fasting Glucose: ↓ 22.5%
3. Body Composition Measures
- Body Weight: ↓ 4.3%
- BMI: ↓ 4.7%
- Waist Circumference: ↓ 7.1%
- Fat Mass: ↓ 8.2%
Benefits of Bergavit™ Demonstrated by This Study
Based directly on the clinical outcomes, Bergavit™ was shown to:
✓ Support healthy total cholesterol and LDL cholesterol levels
✓ Support healthy HDL cholesterol levels
✓ Support healthy triglyceride levels
✓ Support healthy fasting glucose markers
✓ Support favorable body weight, BMI, and waist circumference markers
✓ Support reductions in fat mass
Why This Study Matters
Many adults today experience imbalances in cholesterol, blood sugar regulation, and body composition due to diet, lifestyle, and aging. The findings from this study suggest that bergamot polyphenols may help support multiple markers associated with cardiometabolic health simultaneously, including lipid metabolism, glucose regulation, and measures related to body composition. This multi-target nutritional support is especially relevant for individuals looking to maintain healthy metabolic function as part of a balanced lifestyle.*
Study 2 Summary

4-Month Randomized, Double-Blind, Placebo-Controlled Trial
This randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled clinical trial evaluated the effects of Bergavit™ supplementation on markers related to cholesterol metabolism and oxidative balance in 60 adults with borderline-high LDL cholesterol. Over the 4-month study period, researchers observed improvements in several cardiometabolic markers compared to baseline and placebo.
Study Design Highlights
- Study design: Randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled clinical trial
- Participants: 60 adults with borderline-high LDL cholesterol
- Dose: 375 mg/day Bergavit™ (standardized to 150 mg flavonoids)
- Duration: 4 months
Key Findings (What the Study Showed)
Cholesterol, Oxidative Balance, and Cardiovascular Markers
- LDL Cholesterol: ↓ 11.5%
- Total Cholesterol: ↓ 8.8%
- HDL Cholesterol: ↑ 5.5% (trend toward significance)
- Oxidized LDL: ↓ 2.0%
- Paraoxonase-1 (PON1): ↑ 6.5%
- Systolic Blood Pressure: ↓ 7.0%
- Triglycerides: ↓ 16.7% (directionally favorable)
Benefits of Bergavit™ Demonstrated by This Study
Based directly on the clinical outcomes, Bergavit™ was shown to:
✓ Support healthy LDL cholesterol and total cholesterol levels
✓ Support a favorable trend in HDL cholesterol levels
✓ Support healthy oxidized LDL markers
✓ Support paraoxonase-1 (PON1) activity associated with HDL function and lipid antioxidant activity
✓ Support healthy systolic blood pressure markers
✓ Show directionally favorable triglyceride changes
Why This Study Matters
This study used a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled design, considered a strong standard in human clinical research. In addition to changes in traditional cholesterol markers, the study also evaluated markers related to oxidative balance, including oxidized LDL and paraoxonase-1 (PON1), an enzyme associated with HDL function and lipid antioxidant activity. Many adults have cholesterol levels that fall into a borderline-high range, often influenced by diet, lifestyle, and aging. The results of this study suggest that bergamot flavonoids may help support healthy cholesterol balance and oxidative stability, two factors associated with long-term cardiovascular wellness when combined with healthy lifestyle practices.*

Big-Picture Integration with Other Studies
- Study 1: In a 6-month clinical study involving adults with features associated with metabolic syndrome, daily supplementation with Bergavit™ was associated with improvements in several cardiometabolic markers. Researchers observed favorable changes in LDL cholesterol, total cholesterol, triglycerides, fasting glucose, and measures related to body composition, along with increases in HDL cholesterol.
- Study 2: In a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled study of adults with borderline-high LDL cholesterol, Bergavit™ supplementation was associated with improvements in markers related to cholesterol metabolism, including LDL cholesterol and total cholesterol. The study also reported changes in markers related to oxidative balance, including oxidized LDL and paraoxonase-1 (PON1) activity.
Bergavit™ Ingredient Summary & Real-World Relevance
Bergavit™ is typically used in the range of 375–650 mg per day, providing approximately 130–150 mg of standardized bergamot flavonoids, depending on the formulation. Human clinical studies evaluating bergamot polyphenols at these intake levels have reported improvements in markers related to cholesterol metabolism, including total cholesterol, LDL cholesterol, triglycerides, and HDL cholesterol. Research has also explored effects on markers associated with oxidative balance, such as oxidized LDL and paraoxonase-1 activity.
In some study populations with metabolic risk factors, bergamot polyphenols have also been associated with changes in markers related to glucose regulation and body composition. These findings suggest that bergamot flavonoids may help support healthy lipid metabolism and broader cardiometabolic wellness when incorporated as part of a balanced diet and healthy lifestyle.*
In practical use, daily intakes around 375 mg are commonly used for general cardiovascular wellness support, while amounts closer to 650 mg per day have been evaluated in clinical studies examining individuals with elevated cardiometabolic markers.
