Is a Gluten-free Diet Truly Beneficial?

Posted by Silver Fern™ Brand on

You may have already asked yourself if this diet fad is for you, and it may not be, but you should consider trying it on for size as there are clear benefits to taking on a gluten-free diet.

The gluten-free fad began when more and more people were diagnosed with gluten sensitivity and even celiac disease, a disease that calls for an avoidance of products that contained gluten as it can do some serious damage to the intestines of sufferers. Gluten is a protein found in grains like wheat, rye, and barley. This protein gains its name from the elastic quality it gives bread products. So if you aren’t suffering from a gluten sensitivity or celiac disease, why would you choose to remove gluten from your diet?

The health benefits of foregoing gluten come mostly from the fact that carbohydrates, oily items, and processed foods are avoided as a direct result of avoiding gluten. Consequently, this has a very positive effect on overall health. People suffering from IBS and autism have been known to show positives changes in health while abstaining from gluten, although IBS is the one of the two to have proven benefits from a gluten-free diet.

So, would a gluten-free diet truly be beneficial for your health? Yes! Cutting out gluten will help you cut out other things in your diet that may leave you feeling bloated or bummed. That being said, don’t feel like delicious foods leave you when you leave gluten in the dust! Here at Silver Fern™ Brand, we offer a variety of decadent health-conscious desserts, many being gluten-free.

With Silver Fern™ Brand, guilty indulgences, are well... not so guilty. You will never feel like you are missing out on the goods you once loved as long as we are around.
