Saffron and antidepressants - gut health, saffron, mood, depression

"...if you are too happy, you must have eaten saffron" so goes the saying. And it's true. Many psychiatrists are now suggesting people look to saffron for help with feeling down and stressed out.

I worked up to 60 mg of Safr'Inside® per day. Wow. Felt great combining my antidepressants with saffron. After about 12 weeks on saffron, I slowly started to reduce my antidepressants. Personally speaking, I found that stopping antidepressants altogether can come with withdrawal issues (agitation, poor sleeping, etc.). I hope to eventually come off my antidepressants but, for now, I love how the saffron works to offset the side effects of antidepressants as well as how I feel on the lowest dose of antidepressants.

The saffron we love is Safr'Inside®. This is one of many brands we tried. We found we loved it. We especially love pairing it with l-theanine. L-theanine is also shown to help improve mood and reduce stress. We find the combination extremely effective.

I suggest starting with 30 mg (1 capsule per day). Then if you want to add another over time to help with sleep, etc. then go for it.

If you do want to get off antidepressants please do so with the help of a medical professional or your therapist. Antidepressants come with dependency issues and you may want to manage that process. For some of you, you may need to stay on antidepressants. Saffron may help with the side effects of antidepressants.
